We hear from many different people around the country and everyone has their own opinion about what could happen. While nobody can predict the future, we can look backwards to previous election years to gain some perspective.
Blackrock’s Mark Peterson looks back at how the market has reacted since 1926. Here are three interesting facts takeaways:
1. Since January 1926, the US Stock Market has risen 1,456,743% while seeing dramatic turnovers in political parties.
2. Election years are, on average, good years for the market. Stocks on average have risen 11.6% during election years vs. 10.3% in all other years.
3. Time in the market conquers all.
